I haven’t worked on any games for a while due to recurring hardware issues and burnout…basically, I just can’t bring myself to programme at work and at home. I need to do something else.

I’ve been writing on-off for years, but never completed anything. I mostly tried my hand at writing full-length novels, but I got bored or sidetracked. Some time last year, I switched to writing short stories, and managed to complete six in the last year. In the absence of anywhere better to host them, they’re uploaded to Dropbox and I’m adding links to them here.

The gist of the series that I’m working on is that some time during the Iron Age, humans start digging tunnels into the hills of northwest Country Galway/southeast County Mayo (Ireland), eventually becoming known as the Fir Tolláin – the people of the tunnels, or dwarves. However, reality goes out to lunch some time in the 1840s/1850s, resulting in the entire area being abandoned and quarantined.

All of the pieces I’ve done so far are set in the 1910s/1920s, so the historical background hasn’t come up yet. My primary focus for now is to build up the world in general, aiming to finish 10 stories by the end of the year.
